Itahari, April 13
The construction of a building of Cardiac and Cancer Hospital on the premises of BP Koirala Institute of Health Science has been halted since past six months.
The hospital building construction was initiated at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 billion. The Craze Consultancy which was entrusted the responsibility of the oversight of the construction works charged 3.5 % of total costs as consultancy fee which is against the international norms and practices.
It is shared that the payment of around Rs 140 million was already given to the Consultancy Company. However, the construction of the building is incomplete.
The building construction works have come to a halt when a huge amount was paid for consultancy and budget of Rs 90 million was transferred to purchase MRI machine from the budget allocated for the building.
Even the process of procuring MRI machine has come to a halt with the termination of the agreement to that effect.
Only 40 % of the construction works have been completed in the period of two years, it is learned.
