‘Information technology act to make information technology competitive, impartial’



Kathmandu, April 17

Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota today said the proposal of information technology act aims to develop and make information technology competitive, impartial and manageable.

“Information technology has both merits and demerits. The act means to contain its bad influences, and promote good aspects,” he said while addressing a programme organized by the Department of Information Technology to collect suggestions on the draft of the proposed action.

He also said the government accords high priority to extending people’s access to information technology, now becoming an integral part of people’s daily life.

Secretary of the Ministry Mahendra Man Gurung said the act would help bring information technology to people’s doorsteps.
