Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is preparing to buy five broomer machines soon to clean dusty city roads.
According to information officer at KMC office, Basanta Acharya, a tender for the machines was called on April 5, and seven companies have applied for the contract. He further added that a bidding evaluation sub-committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Rabin Man Shrestha, chief of the environment section at KMC to select the applicants.
The five road sweepers would cost Rs 120 million.
A ‘Clean the City’ campaign is underway to clean the roads in areas including Bag Durbar, Lainchaur, Ratnapark, Jamal, Old Bus Park, Putalisadak, Tri-Chandra College and Bhadrakali which has already accumulated 1,600 tons of dust and dirt.
