Kathmandu Valley records 431 new COVID-19 cases, five deaths

As many as 431 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 377 in Kathmandu, 17 in Bhaktapur and 37 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, five persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours including three in Kathmandu and two in Bhaktapur.

Similarly, a total of 1,201 people have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.

Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 53,120 with the new cases, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, at a regular COVID-19 Update on Saturday afternoon.

He added that 10,176 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently, 15,260 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 9,107 are in institutional isolation and 6,153 in home isolation.

A total 6,354 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile, 852 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.

So far, 37,524 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate stands at 70.6 percent.

According to the Ministry, 14 people lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 336.
