Kathmandu Valley records 597 new COVID-19 cases

As many as 597 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 483 in Kathmandu, 81 in Bhaktapur and 33 in Lalitpur have tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, 6 persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, a total of 1039 people have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population stated.

Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 54,159 with the new cases, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, at a regular COVID-19 update on Sunday afternoon.

He added that 9,165 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.

Currently,15,117 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 7,730 are in institutional isolation and 7,387 in home isolation.

A total 6,536 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.

Meanwhile, 1,173 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.

So far, 38697 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate stands at 71.5 percent.

According to the Ministry, 9 people lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 345.
