Land will be classified: Minister Khanal



Kathmandu, June 12

Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, Chakrapani Khanal, has said that preparation was underway to implement land classification plan.

Addressing an interaction jointly organsied by Nepal Agriculture Journalists Academy (JONAA) and National Farmers Group Federation (NFGF) here today, Minister Khanal said that land owner certificate would be distributed after classifying land into three parts—fertile, commercial and residential.
He further said that laws to stop the plotting of fertile land as well as not to keep the land barren would be formulated.

The Agriculture minister said that preparation was underway to amend Land Act-2021 as well as to make new act by scrapping some acts for the appropriate management and utilize of land.

Similarly, NFGF Chairperson Uddhav Adhikari blamed the government, saying it was not conscious about the rights of small farmers.
On the occasion, agriculture expert Somat Ghimire presented a working paper on ‘Policy and programme regarding agriculture and budget from view of small farmers’.
