The Kathmandu Valley remained calm barring few untoward incidents as a nationwide banda called by the banned Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal had very little impact.
But the protest’s effect was relatively high outside the valley with some incidents of arson attacks and vandalism of vehicles. Traffic plied the Kathmandu roads without any restriction.
In some cases, trucks were torched in Nawalparasi and Makawanpur districts, said the police spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi. Suspicious materials were found in Nawalparasi, Rautahat, Sindhuplachok and Kaski. Vehicles were seen plying under police escorts in some places outside of the valley. A tight security was maintained across the country, said Subedi.
“The valley is now calm. No untoward incidents have been reported so far. Vehicles are plying without any hindrance,” said Shailesh Thapa, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu.
