Kathmandu, Feb 14
While many lovebirds maybe exchanging love and affection on ‘Valentine’s Day’ today, some youths have come out to celebrate this day in a different way.
They have held a programme with the slogan of ‘Ma Mero Phoksolai Maya Garchhu’ (I love my lungs) in a bid to create awareness about increasing air pollution in the capital city.
The event, which was part of the week-long campaign ‘Maskmandu Haina Hamilai Kathmandu Chahinxa’ (We need Kathmandu, not maskmandu) that concluded today, was attended by more than 1,000 people including students.
A series of symbolic demonstrations were also held in various places like Chabahil, Koteshwor, Satdobato, Kalanki, and Maitighar.
As part of the campaign, the participants lied down on the road at Ratnapark and put a garland of human masks around an image of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The campaigners also urged all people to take responsibility and fight for their right to breathe clean air.
