The Gandaki State-level football tournament is going to be held from coming January 15 to 20 at Lahachowk of Machapuchhre rural municipality-4. The tournament will be held at the sports ground of Mahendra Secondary School.
The second edition of the football tournament is to be hosted by the Trishakti United Club of Machapuchhre. The slogan for the tournament is ‘sports for healthy citizens’.
According to the club chair Niraj Shahi, the tournament aims at producing national and international level footballers. The winner of the tournament will be awarded with cash Rs. 155,555 while the second winning team will get Rs. 77,777.
Similarly, the best goal keeper, defender, midfielder, striker and highest scorer will also be awarded with cash prizes. Various football clubs within Gandaki state will participate in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Machapuchhre rural municipality is also organizing the President Running Shield Inter-school sports meet from coming January 24. Community and institutional schools within the rural municipality will take part in the event.
Athletics and volley-ball as well as Kabbadi will be the categories where student athletes will compete, shared the rural municipality vice-chair Krishna Kumari Dawadi.
