Kathmandu, April 13
Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota today pointed out the role of small and cottage industries in contributing towards economic and development of the country.
Talking to representatives of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI), who reached the Ministry to discuss issues relating to small and cottage industries, he stressed the need for cooperation between private sector and the government for prospering the country.
He also said the government is ready to develop the industry sector, a backbone for economic development, through information and technology.
He also urged industrialists and businesspersons to exploit the means of information and technology for developing small and cottage industries.
In return, the FNCSI President Shyam Prasad Giri said small and cottage industries were still restricted to traditional modes of production.
Other delegation members include the FNCSI Vice President Anju Upadhyay, General Secretary Dambar Regmi, advisors Basudev Giri, Suresh Pradhan and Surya Bahadur Kandel, and President of the FNCSI, Kathmandu Sita Karki.
According to available data, of approximately 350,000 registered small and cottage industries across the country, around 250,000 are into operation at present.
