Minister for Population and Environment, Lal Babu Pandit, has sought commitments from health professionals to stop the sex selective birth.
Inaugurating the 11th Conference of the Perinatal Society of Nepal (PESON) amidst a programme here today, the Minister said that he would be tabling a proposal at the Council of Ministers soon, seeking an end to anomalies in the medical sector which promote the sex selective abortion.
Drawing the attention of the government for having Perinatal Unit at all hospitals in the country, Society Chairperson Prof Dr Manindra Ranjan Baral stressed the need of paying serious attention on the health of pregnant women and infant.
Discussion would be held on various issues related to new achievements gained in medical sector of maternity health, among others in the conference.
