A day after the High Level Coronavirus Prevention and Control Coordination Committee decided to allow the Nepalis coming from India stranded at the border entry points to enter Nepal. A large number of people are waiting to get a green signal to enter the country on Wednesday as well.

A meeting of the committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel had on Tuesday decided to bar Nepali nationals to enter the country from Wednesday.

After the government of Nepal imposed a lockdown from Tuesday morning, hundreds of Nepalis had arrived at a few Nepal-India border points demanding that they be allowed to go back to their houses.

Meanwhile, over 40 Nepali nationals have been stranded at the Nepal-India border at Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur waiting for the permission to enter the country after India imposed a complete lockdown since last night.

“We are caught in a dilemma since we cannot take any move unless we received orders from the higher level,” said Chief District Officer Gokarna Prasad Upadhyaya, adding, “We have already allowed some 518 Nepali nationals to enter the country last night.”
