New Delhi, Jan 8, 2018 The move comes a day after the US suspended close to over $1 billion in security assistance to Pakistan for failing to clamp down on terror activity and dismantle their safe havens.
Pakistan’s interior ministry on Saturday blacklisted 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s organisation Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD).
Pakistan, buckling under pressure from the US, at a press release also made public 72 groups that it has banned.
The move comes a day after the US suspended close to over $1 billion in security assistance to Pakistan for failing to clamp down on terror activity and dismantle their safe havens.
On January 1, the US President Donald Trump had said Pakistan, apart from “lies and deceit”, gave the US nothing for the $33 billion in aid provided over the last decade and a half.
Pakistan’s list of banned organisations also includes a sister organisation of JuD known as Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation.
The turn of the New Year didn’t bode well for Hafiz Saeed as Pakistan’s financial regulatory body had banned JuD from collecting donations.
Last year Hafiz Saeed was last placed under house arrest after Pakistan launched a crack down against his organisation.
