National Woodcraft Workshop at Devdaha from Wednesday

National Woodcraft Workshop is going to be held at Devdaha, from Wednesday. Devdaha is related to the life of Gautam Buddha as it is his maternal uncle’s and in-law’s home town.

Nepal Academy of Fine Art and Buddha Community Forest Users’ Group, Devdaha, are the organisers of the workshop.

The seven-day national workshop is to be organised at Gautam Buddha National Park, Devdaha, where renowned sculptors across the nation are participating. The workshop aims to promote Devdaha as the city of park.
At a news conference organised here today, Workshop Main Organising Committee Coordinator Tek Bahadur Rana said that the sculptors would make various wood carvings and statuetts related to the life of Buddha in the workshop taking place till May 30.

The idols would be kept in the Park, it is learnt. The main objective of the workshop is to keep idols of Buddha depicting Buddhism at the parks in Devdaha, said Chairperson of Dream Devdaha Unity for Change, Siddhicharan Bhattarai.

Culture expert Dr Gitu Giri, Dr Krishna Neupane and Chief of Lumbini Buddhist University, Phanindra Neupane, among others would held interaction with sculptors regarding the life of Buddha during the workshop.
