At least 11 Chinese books were released in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Tuesday. The books are published in Nepali language by the Current Publications.
The launching ceremony was held at the Xinzhi Book Kathmandu Office amid the presence of personalities from different walks of life.
Kiran Gautam, President of Current Publications , Kartikgya Ghimire , Chairman of Nepal Children’s Literature Foundation, Chen Xiaoshuang, Vice President of the Overseas Chinese Association of Nepal, and Xiang Pingyong, General Manager of Xinhua Book Kathmandu Chinese Documents Bureau, attended the event.
Zhang Mingzhou, chairman of the International Children’s Reading Union (IBBY), Wang Yongbo, president of Jiangsu Phoenix Children’s Publishing House, and Yao Lei, editor-in-chief of Yangtze Children’s Publishing Group, congratulated them in the form of videos.
From Changjiang Children’s Publishing House, Shandong Friendship Publishing House, Jiangsu Phoenix Children’s Publishing House, Tomorrow Publishing House, Jiangxi Fine Arts Publishing House, “Waiting for Dad to Come Home”, “14 Games for Grandpa”, “Hometown of Confucius-Shandong”, “Finding” Books such as “Fish King” and “Inheritance” are listed in Nepal in Chinese and Nepali languages.
In his speech, Gautam said that 6 of the books released on Tuesday are related to the fight against COVID-19 epidemic; 2 books are about Confucius and Sun Zi Chinese sages; and some books are about Chinese culture.
“In order to introduce Nepal to Chinese readers, we are also translating 30 Nepalese stories into Chinese and strive to publish them in China as soon as possible, so as to enhance mutual understanding between readers of the two countries,” Gautam told.
Chen Xiaoshuang said that the COVID-19 epidemic has posed a huge challenge to the daily lives of Nepalese people, hoping that these books can comfort people’s hearts.
Xiang Pingyong said in his speech that these books are new readings for Nepalese readers during the epidemic, and also brought new selling points for the resumption of work in the bookstore.
