The Nepal Army has widened its involvement in social works in Kanchanpur.

Lately the Singha Shardul Battalion, Bhagatpur Barrack of the Nepal Army has been engaged in erecting wall of Baijanath Dham Senior Citizen Service Centre.

More than two dozen senior citizens are taking shelter at the service center. Established in 2057 BS, the service center was reeling under security threat from wild animals in absence of walls.

Currently NA is constructing a wall with 170-metre length. Local donors have provided construction materials support for this, shared Chetan Chhatkuli, NA Lieutenant.

“We took the initiative for the wall construction when senior citizens were seen facing several problems at old-age home”, he said.

‘Nepal Army is present in social works under its civil-military relations”, he added.

Likewise, the Battallion had constructed a library at Shanti Secondary School in Punarbas Municipality last month.

Similarly, the army conducted a two-day free heath camp at Shuklaphanta Municipality-7, Stationpur on the last week of December. Over 1,400 people had received service from the camp.
