Nepal has won its fourth match under the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier – 2019 by defeating Hong Kong by four wickets.
In the round-robin match held today at the ground of Bangkok-based Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, Nepal chased victory target of 63 runs posted by its competitor in 18.3 overs at a loss of six wickets.
Apsara Begum contributed the highest 24 runs for Nepal, while Sita Rana Magar hit 16. No other Nepali players except these two made a double-digit run.
Hong Kong winning the toss chose to bat first and was limited to 62 runs in allotted 20 overs losing 8 wickets.
Nepal’s Neri Thapa alone took 6 wickets while it was Sarita Rana Magar who dismissed two batswomen. With this victory, Nepal has so far collected 6 points. This is the third victory of Nepal in the tournament. In earlier matches, it defeated Malaysia by 34 runs; the United Arab Emirates by 7 wickets, but conceded a 57 runs defeat to Thailand. It lost the match with the host by 57 runs.
Winner will be qualified to play the ICC T20 Women Qualifier. A total of seven nations: Nepal, Thailand, the UAE; Malaysia, Kuwait, China and Hong Kong are competing for the title.
