Nepal confirms 166 new COVID-19 cases, tally hits to 1,567

Nepal has reported 166 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the national tally stands at 1,567, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Sunday.

Among the new infected, 162 are male and 4 female with a total of 1,450 male and 117 female in the country so far, according to Dr. Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 1 from Tanahun, 2 from Syangja, five from Parsa, 36 from Kalikot and Dailekh, 1 from Bajura, 26 from Salyan, 1 from Surkhet, 5 from Kapilvastu, 4 from Banke, 4 from Nepalgunj, 12 from Saptari, 3 from Kailali, 3 from Bajura, 4 from Jhapa, 1 from Biratnagar, 21 from Dhanusha, 29 from Rautahat, 10 from Sarlahi have been infected with coronavirus.

Similarly, one female has been discharged from Bharatpur Hospital after recovery on Sunday taking the tally of discharged to 220.

Out of them, 172 are males while 48 are females.

A total of 119,192 are currently in different quarantines throughout the country.

Meanwhile, eight people have so far died due to the coronavirus in the country.

A two-year-old girl, who died at an isolation ward of Bajura District Hospital this morning, tested positive.

Earlier on May 14, a 29-year-old woman from Ramche in Bahrabise municipality of Sindhupalchowk district was the first to die of coronavirus in the country.

Likewise, the second death was a 25-year old man who died in a quarantine in Banke on May 17.

Similarly, a 70-year-old man died at National Medical College in Birgunj on May 17 to become the third patient to die from COVID-19.

Likewise, the fourth death was a 41-year-old man from Madane rural municipality of Gulmi died at Crimson Hospital on May 21.

Similarly, a man died in India while returning to Nepal on May 23. He was the fifth person to die.

A man from Bungmati, Lalitpur died on May 27 to become the sixth person to die from COVID-19.

Likewise, the seventh was a 35-year-old male from Dullu of Dailekh who died in the quarantine facility.
