Nepal confirms 19 new COVID-19 cases, tally hits 603

A total of 19 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Nepal on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Bikash Devkota said that 19 fresh cases have been reported in over 10 districts today.

The total number of confirmed cases has reached 603, including 525 male and 89 female.

19 cases have been confirmed in Morang, Kalaiya, Parsa, Bara, Sarlahi, Rupendehi, Kathmandu, Kapilvastu, Gulmi and Nuwakot districts.

On Saturday, 68 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Nepal.

Meanwhile, in a bid to widen the scope of coronavirus tests in the country, 45,957 people tested through PCR methods while 86,235 RDT tests were conducted as of Saturday afternoon.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 10,169 persons in Province No. 1 while 6,308 persons in Province No 2 and 21,111 persons in Bagmati Province were tested through RDT methods.

Likewise, 7,701 individuals in Gandaki Province, 11,489 in Province No 5 and 9,039 in Karnali Province had tests through RDT methods and 20,610 in Sudur Paschim Province.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota added that presently altogether 32,587 people are in quarantines in the country.

There are 1,461 persons under quarantine in Province No. 1 and 6,910 individuals in Province No. 2 while 562 people in Bagmati Province. Likewise, 882 people are under quarantine in Gandaki Province, whopping 19,525 in Province No. 5 while 1,670 in Karnali Province and 6,143 in Sudur Paschim Province.

Three persons have died so far from COVID-19 and 79 recovered in Nepal.
