Nepal defeats Hong Kong by 5 wickets

Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 5 wickets in the last match today under the ICC World Cup cricket qualifying tournament underway in Zimbabwe.

In the match held at Bulawayo Athletic Club ground of Zimbabwe, Nepal overhauled the victory target of 154 runs set by Hong Kong in 40.4 overs at the loss of 5 wickets.

For Nepal, Rohit Kumar top-scored with 48 runs followed by Sompal Kami who scored 37 while Anil Kumar Shah scored 26 runs.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Hong Kong scored 153 runs in 48.2 overs at the loss of all wickets. Sandip Lamichhane took 3 wickets while Karan KC and Basant Regmi took two each to limit the opposition to a low total.

Though Nepal failed to qualify to the super sixes of the tournament after registering just one win, it still has the chance to win the one-day status. Despite sharing equal points Afghanistan qualified to the second round on a better run rate than Nepal and Hong Kong.

Prior to this in the tournament, Nepal lost to host Zimbabwe by 116 runs, to Scotland by 4 wickets and against Afghanistan by 6 wickets.
