Nepal records 455 new COVID-19 cases, 804 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 897,589 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 455 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 3,418 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 398 returned positive. Likewise, 2,796 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 57 tested positive.

Of total tests, 11.64 per cent of the PCR and 2.03 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 7.32 per cent.

As of today, there are 13,853 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,062 are hospitalised, 310 in intensive care units and 105 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 804 people have achieved recovery whereas eight deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 779,154 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,269 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.88 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 4,784 people were vaccinated today.
