Nepal reports 170 COVID-19 new cases, tally hits 1,212

Nepal on Friday reported 170 new COVID-19 cases. With this, the number of coronavirus positive cases has reached 1,212 in the country.

Among the infected, 165 are male and 5 female, according to Dr Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.

LIkewise, Dr Devkota also confirmed the death of a youth who died in Nepal-India border area while heading back to his home district Arghakhanchi after tested coronavirus positive posthumously.

The youth had died on May 23 in the Nepal-India border area while on his way back home.

Meanwhile, 206 people have been discharged from various hospitals after recovery so far.

Coronavirus has been spread to 52 of the 77 districts of the country as of Friday.

State-5 has the highest number of COVID-19 infected people. As many as 365 people have tested positive for the virus in nine districts of the State.

The Sudur Paschim State has the lowest number of infected people with 17 in its five districts, the health ministry sources said.

Likewise, the State-1 has 103 infected in its seven districts followed by 324 in State 2; 39 in Bagmati State; 16 in Gandaki State and 25 in Karnali State.

Likewise, as many as 86,097 people are in different quarantines, and 850 are in isolation across the country.

So far, the country has reported six deaths — a 25-year-old man from Banke, a 29-year-old woman from Sindhupalchowk, a 41-year-old man from Gulmi, a 70-year-old man from Bara, and a 57-year-old man from Lalitpur, and a 34-year-old male from Arghakhanchi.

Earlier on Thursday, 156 new COVID-19 cases were reported taking the number of coronavirus positive cases to 1,042.
