Nepal reports 279 new COVID-19 cases; toll reaches 4,364

Nepal has confirmed 279 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 4,364.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jasheswar Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 257 male and 22 female.

The new infections have been found in Morang, Chitwan, Sunsari, Jhapa, Udaypur, Nawalpur, Sarlahi, Kapilvastu, Nalwaparasi West, Palpa, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Banke, Bardiya, Saptari, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Surkhet, Darchula, Kailali, Dadeldhura, Dhading, Dhanusha, Gorkha Nuwakot, Rautahat, Sindhupalchowk, Siraha, and Kanchanpur districts.

The virus has now spread in 72 out of 77 districts.

Meanwhile, 90 COVID-19 patients, including 2 female and 88 male have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.

They have been discharged from Koshi Hospital, COVID-19 Unified Command Hospital, Balambu, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Jumla, BPKIHS, Dharan, COVID-19 Hospital, Janakpur, Mahendra Ganahi Isolation and Corona Hospital, Dang.

A total of 674 COVID-19 patients have been discharged so far. Meanwhile, 15 people have died from coronavirus in Nepal.

In the last 24 hours, 4,414 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 257,962 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Nepal so far. Of these, 1,00971 samples were tested through the PCR and 156,991 through the RDT.

At present, 3,675 people are in isolation and 172,266  are in quarantines across the country.
