Nepal’s COVID-19 tally jumps to 100,676 with 2,059 fresh cases

The country recorded a total of 2,059 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 100,676 in the country as of Friday afternoon.

According to the Ministry, one person from Udayapur, three from Khotang, eight from Jhapa, two from Dhankuta, one from Bhojpur, 86 from Morang, one from Sankhuwasabha, and 26 from Sunsari have contracted the coronavirus.

Similarly, three cases have been confirmed in Dhanusha, 15 in Parsa, 11 in Bara, 17 in Mahottari, nine in Rautahat, one in Saptari, seven in Sarlahi, one in Siraha, 1,116 in Kathmandu, 40 in Kavre, 51 in Chitwan, three in Dolakha, seven in Dhading, four in Nuwakot, 130 in Bhaktapur, 69 in Makwanpur, 19 in Ramechhap, 163 in Lalitpur and 11 in Sindhuli.

Similarly, 28 from Kaski, 12 from Gorkha, eight from Tanahun, 25 from Nawalparasi East, three from Parbat, three from Lamjung, three from Baglung, one from Syangja, three from Arghakhanchi, one from Kapilvastu, Five from Gulmi, 65 from Dang, two from Palpa and three from Pyuthan have been found infected.

As many as three from Pyuthan, nine from Bardiya, 45 in Banke, three from Rupandehi, two from Rolpa, five from Kalikot, eight from Dailekh, one from Rukum West, three from Salyan, three from Surkhet, two from Kanchanpur, two from Kailali, one from Doti and one from Baitadi have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 13,279 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,680 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 73,023 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72.5 percent, he added.

Nepal currently has 27,053 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 11,176 people are in institutional isolation and 15,877 others are in home isolation facilities.

Likewise, 4,703 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Similarly, he said that 318 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 75 others are on ventilators across the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, 35 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, 20 in Province 2, 196 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 43 in Lumbini Province, 18 in Karnali Province.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam also said that nine in Province 1, two in Province 2, 57 in Bagmati, and seven in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.

Likewise, 10 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the tally of coronavirus caused deaths in the country to 600, the Ministry confirmed.

Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Morang, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Sunsari and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, two districts— Manang and Mustang—have no active cases.
