Nepal’s Covid-19 tally records 158 new cases, 342 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 916,350 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 158 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,604 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 154 returned positive. Likewise, 2,314 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional four tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.33 per cent of the PCR and 0.17 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 1.77 per cent.

As of today, there are 6,966 active cases across the country. Of them, 377 are hospitalised, 171 in intensive care units and 33 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 342 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 802,389 people have achieved recovery.

Likewise, 11,523 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 127,611 people were vaccinated today.
