New Event Tourism Initiative for Budhanilkantha

The Mayor of Budhanilkantha Municipality, Mr Uddhav Kharel today announced a new event tourism initiative for the Budhanilkantha Municipality. The Breakfast and Brunch Farmers Market, to be launched at the Park Village on Sunday 17th February, is designed to provide new opportunities for local business and to bring many new visitors to the area.

Mr Kharel said that although it will be a social and fun event, the market is really an economic development initiative which will bring a short term economic boost as well as longer term benefits to the Municipality from new business and new product development.

Tourism Development Officer, Stephen Clark, said that event tourism is a great way for municipalities such as Budhanilkantha to attract visitors, generate new business and promote a good image for the area. He says that many Provinces and Municipalities around the world have benefited socially, culturally and economically from event tourism. With Shivapuri right on the doorstep he anticipates that many visitors to the market may also take the opportunity to make a day of it and go for a bush walk.

Park Village is nestled in 5 acres of parkland just below the Shivapuri hills. The market will feature a range of tasty foods as well as fresh organic produce, a variety of food products and authentic local arts and crafts.

If good food, fresh organic produce, arts and music are appealing to you, then the new Breakfast and Brunch Farmers Market at the Park Village is just the way to celebrate Sunday. The new market launches on Sunday 17th February from 7.30 am to 1 pm and will run every Sunday for the rest of the year.

The Breakfast and Brunch Farmers Market is organised by the Women’s Organic Farmers Group with the support of the Budhanilkantha Municipality and the Park Village Hotel.
