New youth wing of CPN to adopt Marxism Leninism



Kathmandu, June 11

A task force formed to facilitate the unification process between the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) and Young Communist League (YCL) has summoned a standing committee meeting of the YAN for June 13.

The YAN is the youth wing of the then CPN (UML) and YCL is of the then CPN (Maoist- Center) and both parties had united on May 17 to form the new party- Communist Party of Nepal.

The central secretariat meeting of YCL is to take place same day and a joint meeting has been scheduled for June 14 to discuss the merger issues.
The task force comprises Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Mani Thapa, Ramesh Poudel and Ram Prasad Sapkota (Deepsikha).

The Statute and Organisation Draft Committee to this end has prepared a work procedure deciding to adopt Marxism and Leninism as the principle of a new organisation and exercise separation of powers at all nationwide structures.

As stated by YAN general secretary Naresh Shahi, an agreement has been reached to take a new organisation to the local level effectively and operate programmes targeting youths.

Following the unification between two communist parties, it was said that their youth wings would be merged by the next three months.
