Olympic Day Celebration 2019 in Rajdal, Lagankhel

Under the aegis of Nepal Olympic Committee initiated by Sports for all Commission organized the closing ceremony of 9 days long celebration (15 June- 23 June 2019) with 116 different programs across the country. Every year Olympic Day is celebrated around the world in 23rd June. Olympic Day is celebrated in 207 countries, with the motto of Sports is for everyone regardless of age, sex or color.

Youth and Sports Minister Honorable Jagat Bahadur Sunar(Bishwokarma) was the Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony. Olympic Day is celebrated by 207 countries worldwide on this day June 23, 2019.

Honorable Minister Sunar hoisted the Nepalese flag and Honorary President of NOC Mr. Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan hoisted the flag of International Olympic Committee.

Honorable Minister Sunar said that there will be increment in monthly allowance of Olympians from Rs.3000 to Rs.4000.

The Olympians of Nepal ran with the Olympic torch remembering the previous theme of Olympic Day Run. All the events in this 9 days long celebration were done keeping in mind the core value of Olympic which are excellence, respect and friendship.

The Closing ceremony was held in Nepal Army Sports and Physical Training Center, Rajdal Lagankhel where there were more than 2000 participants. All the NOC executive board members, Association members, Representatives from Armies, Police, and different Schools etc were also present.

Chief Guest Honorable Minister Sunar distributed Token of love to total of 65 organizations which includes associations, schools, different organizations who took the initiative to celebrate this 9 days long program and thanked them as well.

Chairperson of Sports for all commission added that Olympic Day is for everyone and we all must celebrate this wonderful day with joy as it represents the Modern Olympic movement.

Vice President of NOC Mr. Dhirendra Kumar Pradhan said that 2020 Tokyo Olympic has a great significant as our 1st Participation in Olympic Games was in 1964AD in Tokyo as well.

In the program the National Army Band performed many National songs, different renowned artists performed songs and dances from schools, organizations were also performed. National Amateur Athletics, Nepal Archery Association showed demonstration of their game and Judo showcased Self Protection techniques.
