The Parliament Secretariat has published the schedule for the election of the new Speaker on January 26 in the House of Representatives.
Since the ruling Nepal Communist Party has already decided to pick its party leader Agni Sapkota as the candidate for Speaker. It is almost confirmed that Sapkota will be elected Speaker as NCP holds a majority in House of Representatives.
The nominations for the election will be filed from 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesday as shared by the Parliament Secretariat,
The post of Speaker has been lying vacant after former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara resigned from the post on October 1 , 2019.
