Newly-elected member of the House of Representatives NCP leader Bidya Bhattarai has taken oath of office and secrecy on Tuesday . Deputy Speaker Shivamaya Tumbahamphe administered Bhattarai the oath. Bhattarai will participate in the new House session scheduled to begin this Friday.
Bhattarai was elected the parliamentarian from Kaski-2 during the by-election held on November 30. The constituency witnessed the by-election after the then Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Prasad Adhikari died in a helicopter crash in February. Bhattarai is the spouse of late Adhikari.
After the swearing in ceremony, parliamentarian Bhattarai said that she would work in a role assigned by the Constitution of Nepal. Bhattarai on behalf of the Nepal Communist Party had defeated Khem Raj Poudel of the Nepali Congress by over 8,000 votes in the by-election.
