Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal has said only the building of Ramdev’s TV was inaugurated Friday and that licence for operation of the channel was underway.
Issuing a press statement Saturday, IT in charge of Yogpeeth Nepal Sandeep Balmiki said the meeting of the Board of Directors on September 24 decided to operate the TV and forwarded application for verification to the company registrar office.
“The process for further permission has been moved forward,” the statement said, adding that “Currently, the TV is not in broadcast phase and technical preparations for the same are taking place. Only the TV building was inaugurated on an auspicious occasion in the presence of the yog guru Swami Ramdev, revered Acharya Balakrishna and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.”
The Yogpeeth stated that the TV would be operated only after permission is acquired as per the rules and regulations of the Nepal government. Stating that Patanjali is a purely social service-oriented organization, it claimed that some media hastily spread misleading information about the organization.
Prime Minister Deuba inaugurated the ‘Patanjali Nepal’ and ‘Astha Nepal’ TV channels in the presence of other well-known politicians like Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN-Unified Socialist Chair Madhav Nepal, among others, on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Department of Information and Broadcasting formed a four-member investigation committee and have begun the probe, according to an official of the Department.
