Kathmandu, June 19
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli left here for the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for a six-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Kequang. The PM Oli-led delegation left here for Beijing of China in a chartered plane of Himalayan Airlines this morning.
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Officiating Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokharel, CPN leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Bamdev Gautam and others reached the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to see off the PM.
During the visit, the PM is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Kequang and also address the Nepal-China forum of intellectuals and business communities in Beijing.
According to Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shankar Das Bairagi, bilateral discussions and agreements would be signed in different projects including infrastructure development, energy, tourism and some others under Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
PM Oli will also visit Lhasa in Tibet (China’s autonomous region) where he is scheduled to hold meetings with the leaders of Tibet.
PM’s spouse Radhika Shakya, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Kumar Gyawali have accompanied the PM in the visit. Likewise, Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth, PM’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal, lawmakers, high-level government officials, business leaders and media persons are also included in the team.
PM Oli is scheduled to arrive on 24 June by wrapping up his China visit.
