Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the governments at all the three levels should work in a coordinated manner for achieving balanced development.
The PM said this while speaking in the inaugural function of the National Development Council meeting here today. He stressed on the need of understanding and unity among the political parties for the nation’s development.
“There is the government formed with the majority support of the people. It has a clear policy on development, will formulate and implement plans on the basis of this policy. Since the government is ahead in the mega campaign of development, there should not be any government side or opposition side in matters of development and let us all work together in nation building. Let there be no obstacles in the country’s development by irrelevant opposition,” he asserted.
As he said, the international community is also willing to support and extend cooperation in the development endeavour. The encouraging participation of the investors from the neighbouring countries in the recently concluded Nepal Investment Summit 2019 signaled that, the PM stated.
“The international community is also willing to provide support and assistance in the development efforts and the Investment Summit has made it explicit. The government now moves ahead with ambitious development plans,” he said.
PM Oli also expressed the commitment to carry out works in a way that there is balanced development in all sectors including physical infrastructure development, education and health to get to the goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
He said expressing new things also brought change in the way people think and mentioned operation of steamer service in the Koshi River as an example of this.
Prime Minister Oli on the occasion shared the government’s plan of increasing the productivity through mechanization of agriculture. “No one’s going to lose their job when agriculture is mechanized. Rather, it creates new job opportunities. Therefore, modernization does not hijack jobs from people but transforms employment,” he explained.
The Prime Minister, the chair of National Development Council, made it clear that the upcoming 15th five-year periodic plan had not presented plans of development (for the next five years) but also prepared the draft of Nepal’s development for the upcoming 25 years. According to him, the plan offers a clear picture of the Nepal’s development status in 2099 BS.
Stating that the government was working to implement iron ore mining projects in Nawalparasi, Parbat and Tanahu and the gemstone mining project in Jajarkot, the Prime Minister claimed this year the country witnessed the maximum expansion of a road network ever since in history. He pledged to ensure better public health through the emphasis on the production of healthy organic products.
The meeting is held to finalise the proposed concept paper of the 15th five-year periodic plan (2076-77 to 2080-81 BS). The meeting which has the participation of all the State governments, office bearers of the national associations of rural municipalities; and municipalities and the private sector will run until Thursday.
