Minster for Water Supply, Bina Magar, has said that the Ministry has been making preparations to complete much awaited Malamchi Drinking Water Project.
Responding to queries of lawmakers in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Magar said that it would take some times to bring the drinking water of Melamchi to Kathmandu Valley after the CMC construction company left the project.
Minister Magar said, “Now the Ministry has moved ahead with two alternatives in order to bring the drinking water of Melamchi to Kathmandu Valley as soon as possible.”
She further said that construction works of the Melamchi Project have been accelerated after she resumed the Ministry.
‘Although we failed to supply drinking water to Kathmandu Valley folks on time, beginning of construction process of ‘ventilation’ and tunnel breakthrough are its some examples, said Minister Magar.
Saying the government has been taking continuous initiatives to bring drinking water to Kathmandu Valley soon, she said preparation was underway to announce tender again in order to complete the construction task soon.
The Water Supply Minister sad, “Melamchi Drinking Water Project is also the matter of my success. Former Secretary was transferred after he did not follow the direction given to carry out the Melamchi related activities keeping on first priority.”
Discussion was underway regarding the water sources including Mahadev rivulet of Kathmandu Valley as the alternative of Melamchi, according to the Ministry.
Minister Magar informed the HoR that the proposal in this regard has reached at the Finance Ministry.
