Kathmandu, May 29
President Bidya Devi Bhandari today took part in a ceremony held to mark the Republic Day 2075 at the Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.
The NA made a fly by with a chopper displaying a banner of Republican Day and showering flower petals to mark the occasion.
A minute’s silence was also observed to honour the sacrifices made by known and unknown martyrs in different stages of uprisings for political transformation and democracy.
On the occasion, President, Vice President, Prime Minister, acting Chief Justice, House Speaker, National Assembly Chairperson released a pair of white pigeons each as a sign of peace.
Musical processions were also staged by Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Bhaktapur municipality, Madhyapur Thimi municipality and Kirtipur municipality displaying their traditional attires and cultures. The Pancha Kanya also took part in the ceremony during which the Lakhe dance, Lanthi dance and Astamatrika dance were staged.
The Buddhists’ associations including the Gumba Development Committee Nepal, National Youth Council and National Sports Council took part in the ceremony with their banners.
The Department of Agriculture and Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) presented an attractive procession displaying different agricultural products.
The Nepal Army, Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police staged musical performances of national music to invoke patriotism and presented Nepal’s favorite Maruni and Kaura performances.
Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) and women police officers and army presented their musical bands.
Nepal Government’s high officials, chiefs of constitutional bodies, industrialists, civil service employees, and distinguished personalities from the society took part in the ceremony. The ceremony was live telecast by the Nepal Television. (Photo Available)
