President attends special ceremony on occasion of 68th Democracy Day



Kathmandu, Feb 19
President Bidya Devi Bhandari today attended a special function organised in the Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundikhel to mark the 68th Democracy Day. The Day commemorates the establishment of democracy in the country with the abolition of a 104-year autocratic Rana rrule.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli, member of the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary, chiefs of constitutional bodies, chiefs of security agencies, chiefs and representatives of Nepal-based diplomatic commissions and high level government officers were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, a squad of Nepal Army offered a gun- salute to the Head-of-the-State. Likewise, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice released white pigeons, wishing for peace in the nation. The participants also observed one minute silence in memory of all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of country and the people.
On the occasion, two army helicopters made flower showers in the air, while all three security agencies held parades.
