Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) in collaboration with its Gandaki state committee organized a rally in Pokhara where the participants pressed for press freedom for one and all.
The rally that started from BP Chowk of Pokhara Metropolitan City-4 had ended upon reaching the New Road.
Participants of the rally included media persons, civic right activists and people from various walks of life. They univocally demanded the release of the detained journalists, safeguarding press freedom and an end on all the activities that infringe on press freedom and arrest of the journalists.
Addressing the rally, FNJ Gandaki state chair Tribhuvan Poudel argued that press freedom was not only needed for the media persons but also one and one.
Stating that the new constitution had guaranteed press freedom, he said, “The demand for press freedom is not only for the media persons but one and all. The government cannot afford to negate the issue of press freedom as there won’t be freedom of expression for people if there is not press freedom.”
