Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that protecting religion and culture existing since ancient period was the responsibility of the nation.
Inaugurating the Shreemandbhagwat Nabah Gyan Mahayagya, a religious function, organised at Gamcha of Gokarneshwor municipality-3 today, Prime Minister Deuba said that support of all was necessary to build infrastructure development of educational and religious institutions. The Mahayagya has been organised with an objective of helping Gram Sudhar Basic School and Shiva Panchayan temple.
He said, ‘The government cannot work in all sectors. Support should be sought from the local bodies concerned. Locals should contribute for construction of schools and temples.”
Similarly, Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ambika Basnet, urged to collect donation through the religious function for the reform in education as well as improvement in the living standard of the people of the area, which is backward even though it falls under the capital. Parliamentarian of Kathmandu-3, Krishna Rai, stressed that all should unite for the reforms in education sector.
Likewise, Mayor and Deputy-Mayor of Gokarneshwor municipality, Santosh Chalise and Shanti Nepal, Prof Dr. Rishiram Pokharel and Chairperson of Mahayagya organizing Committee, Damodar Poudel, among others said that such religious function would help construction of infrastructure of the educational sector.
The Mahayagya will run till February 12.
