Local people of Bhaktapur continued to protest today demanding that Bhaktapur be named the temporary capital of Province 3.
They have been objecting to the government’s act to name Hetauda in Makawanpur the province’s temporary capital.
The agitation has seen a participation of people from different walks of life including people’s representatives, representatives of various political parties, employees, and intellectuals.
Traffic has been disrupted after the protesters staged a sit-in in the streets.
Speaking at a corner meet, Member of Parliament and former minister Mahesh Basnet said the government should correct its move, and name Bhaktapur the province temporary capital.
Three big political parties–the CPN (UML), the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre)–have also supported the protest for the same cause.
