Province 1 government praised for ‘satisfactory’ performance

Province 1 chief Prof Dr Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang has praised the province government for its performance in the past one year.

In his address to a programme organised by the Office of (Province) Chief Minister and Council of Ministers today to disclose achievements of the province government in such a period, he said, “The government achievements so far have brought excitements among the people.”

He was of the view that the dream of a prosperous and happy province was attainable if people’s needs and interests were kept at the first while working.

Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai said though a province-level structure was totally a new practice for the people, the government was doing its best to serve the people. He ruled out any possibility of compromise in regard to good governance, he announced to provide Rs 5,000 each to the people completing 90 years at their doorsteps.

Province Speaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari described the province enriched with natural resources, expressing his happiness over the government success to lead it towards the path of development while chief secretary Kedar Neupane said the government had maintained austerity in its affairs.

On the occasion, security bodies were given vehicles including 245 motorcycles to help them in efforts aimed at further strengthening the province security. It costs Rs 105.7 million to purchase the vehicles.

Meanwhile, over two dozen of employees including secretary Yagya Bahadur Khatri and under-secretary Rabindra Acharya adjudged the best performers of the year were honoured.
