Tilottama, Rupandehi, May 14
A joint meeting of the chairpersons and executive chiefs of newspapers, FM radio stations and television media based in Rupandehi district has formed the Publishers and Broadcasters’ Society, Rupandehi.
The Society would work for further making the media houses operating from the district systematic and effective, enhancing the capacity of the working journalists associated with these media, fully implementing the minimum wages of the journalists, among other professional issues.
It would also work towards making the district-based media houses inclusive, promoting the development issues and investigative reports.
The meeting held the extensive discussion on the professional challenges and opportunities of the media obtained in the district. It also laid emphasis on making the various mass media run from Butwal, the capital of province 5, more qualitative than the media of other districts.
The Society has 13 members and Nawaraj Kunwar, the Managing Director of Butwal Today, a daily newspaper, is its president. Executive Chief of Buddha Television, Bishnu Bhusal is the vice-president, and Executive Chief of Butwal FM and Tilottama daily, Madhav Nepal is the secretary of the Society.
The members include Mahesh Rijal, the Manager of the Dainik Patra daily, Chairman of Radio Devdaha, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Manager of Radio Malmala, Rishiram Neupane, Station Chief of Radio Republic, Usha Kiran Pantha, Station Chief of Radio Mukti Kalpana Tiwari, Station Chief of Radio Samabesi Milan Gaha, Station Chief of Radio Jagaran Binod Pariyar, Station Chief of Rupandehi FM Shankar Prasad Pandey, Times FM’s managing director Naresh Chaudhari.
