The Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project of 45 megawatt which suffered a heavy loss in Gorkha Earthquake and floods is likely to take two more years for the power generation after the completion of the ongoing reconstruction works.
Power generation from the project is in a halt for five years leading to a huge loss to the project and the nation at large.
The project developed by the private sector suffered a heavy loss due to Jure landslides, Gorkha Earthquake and the Bhotekoshi floods, and the reconstruction of the project is as costly as developing the new project, Executive Director of Project Bikram Sthapit said.
Executive Director Sthapit said that contract for the project reconstruction has been awarded to China’s Sino Hydro Company in Rs 7 billion to complete the tasks in two years.
The flood has damaged the dam site, power house, transmission line and many other equipments except the tunnel of the project.
