RJPN won’t join federal government at present condition: Rajendra Mahato

Biratnagar, June 10

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal’s presidium member Rajendra Mahato said his party would not join the federal government in the present situation. Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport today, he said the party would be part of the central government provided that party received a proposal in writing on constitution amendment.

Stating that the party had launched a movement for six months, demanding an amendment to the country’s main law, he said again the party’s major agenda was the constitution amendment, not the government. As he said, the party continues to provide support to the government from outside, however.

The party had sat for talks with the communist party many times to discuss the constitution amendment issues, but no trustworthy atmosphere was created.

He went on to say that the party would not make its exit from the province 2 government formed following the mandate of people there, adding that no such decision capable of hurting people’s sentiment would be taken by the party. According to him, the party has formally decided not to leave the province 2 government and is committed to the parliamentary system.
