RUWON Free Computer Training inaugurated by Mayor Kharel

RUWON Nepal, a non- governmental organization which has been working since 2007 in order to improve the condition of girls and women specially belongs to the marginalized community in Nepal has currently launched a six months long free computer training program. The program is mainly focused on supporting the women’s and girls from back warded community to enhance them with computer knowledge. The mayor of the Budhanilkantha Municipality Mr. Uddahab Prasad Kharel has inaugurated the free computer training program clicking on the computer signaling at Akashedara-11, Kathmandu yesterday. Inaugurating the program, Mayor Kharel shared a motivational speech with the participants focusing on how IT skills is crucial in the society as people are now living in the digital world.  He was also very impressed by the work conducted by RUWON Nepal, and promised to find employment after the training program.

The number of thirty six women’s will participate and get benefit from the free computer training program organized by RUWON Nepal in co-ordination with Women’s World Wide Web (W4 France). The president of RUWON Nepal, Goma Devi Bastola said that the program will aims at empowering women especially those who are lacking technology. Bastola further added that during the six mouths long training, the trainees will be trained in three batches of twelve people each six days a week for which twelve brand new desktop computers will be used. 

Alexia Jacob representing the W4 France working in Nepal with RUWON until spring 2020 also shared her words regarding the free computer training program. She expressed W4’s excitement and pleased to working simultaneously with RUWON on this program. Jacob also encouraged the trainees to provide continuous support concerning their IT training as well as soft skills and entrepreneurship training mentioning that W4 is proud of its successful partnership with RUWON.

The president of Budhanilkantha Municipality-10 Mr. Navaraj Bhattarai added his view on the significance of such training programs for needy women’s and girls and the association of RUWON Nepal to implement such programs.

Mr. Dhruba Prasad Ghimire, the co-founder and editor of Pariwartan Khabar facilitated for the implementation of the free computer training program and the opening ceremony.
