Sometime ago IANS had reported that after Rani Mukerji backing out of appearing at Ram Kapoor’s show Comedy High School due ill-health, it was Salman Khan who was going to fill in her place. And well that did happen, as per reports in DNA, Salman recently visited the Comedy High School show set as a special guest.
The show is hosted by Ram Kapoor and will be going on air from tomorrow on Discovery JEET. While the makers decided to have Salman for the pilot episode, they also paid a huge price for the same suggest reports. As per what the source told DNA, despite being unwell Salman had a blast on the show and also performed a Karwa Chauth act on a song from Shah Rukh Khan’s DDLJ, in one take.
However, for a 4-hour shoot, Salman Khan charged the makers a whopping Rs 4 crores. “The makers paid the superstar Rs 4 crores and he completed the shoot in four hours,” a source from the show told the daily. Earlier, even Priyanka Chopra had made a demand similar to this. The actress had demanded Rs 5 crores for a 5-minute performance on Zee Cine awards.
While earlier reports were doing rounds that Rani dropped out last minute, the spokesperson from the channel denied the report by issuing a statement that said, “There has been speculation in the media that Rani dropped out at the last minute from the shoot of Comedy High School because of ill health and we replaced her with Salman Khan. This is to clarify that like a true professional, Rani informed us a day prior that she would not be able to make the shoot as her back injury needed some more time to heal. Salman Khan was always scheduled to shoot the launch episode of Comedy High School. We are delighted to hear that Rani is absolutely fine now and will be making an appearance on the show soon.”
Comedy High School is a light-hearted take on society, culture, education and current affairs through a classroom-based setup. It has theme-based episodes. The show’s cast includes Ram, Gopal Dutt, Paritosh Tripathi, Krishna Bhatt, Jasmeet Bhatia and Deepak Dutta. It begins on February 17.
Now, with a stalwart like Salman launching the show, we guess it is something surely to look forward to. Salman is currently in Bangkok shooting for Race 3 and also has another film Bharat coming up. He will also be soon returning to the TV with his game based reality show 10 Ka Dum.
