Nepal wrist-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been included in the ICC World XI squad against West Indies at Lord’s in England on May 31, ICC said.
The charity match is organized to support redevelop the stadia in the Caribbean, which was damaged due to hurricanes last year.
Lamichhane will play alongside England’s Eoin Morgan (captain) Shahid Afridi (Pakistan), Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh), Dinesh Karthik (India), Rashid Khan (Afghanistan), Mitchell McClenaghan (New Zealand), Shoiab Malik (Pakistan), Hardik Pandya (India), Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka) and Luke Ronchi (New Zealand) against the likes of Chris Gayle, Samuel Badree, Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis, Marlon Samuels and Andre Russell among others.
Reacting to the news of his inclusion in the ICC World XI, Lamichanne said, “I am privileged to have been chosen to be part of the ICC World XI against the Windeis. It is an honor for the entire country and passionate followers of Nepal cricket, as well as an indicator that we are making our mark on the international game.”
Leggie Sandeep Lamichhane is currently playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League and will play in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament in the summer.
He was picked by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for a fee of USD 5,000 during the CPL auction in London.
