Saptari chapter of NEFIN submits memo to PM



Rajbiraj, April 17

Saptari chapter of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers through the Chief District Officer, Bhagirath Pandey, putting forth seven-point demand.

The memo incorporating signature of the chairperson of 22 organisations related to indigenous nationalities was submitted to Pandey. A team under the leadership of Chairperson of Saptari chapter of NEFIN, Brijaman Tamang, submitted the memo.

The memorandum incorporates various demands including withdrawal of the decision of slashing the public holidays related to the cultural identity of indigenous nationalities as well as other communities like Maghe Sankranti, Sonam and Gyalbo Lhosar, naming the province on the basis of agreement signed between the government and indigenous nationalities, implementation of sentiment of proportional inclusive principle in a right way and immediate release of and proper compensation to those who are in jail convicted of eating beef.

Receiving the memo, Pandey expressed commitment to send the memo to the bodies concerned at the earliest.

Meanwhile, they have also warned of the stern agitation if their first-phase peaceful agitation was neglected.
