Security team monitors border with India

A joint team of concerned authority and security agencies has carried out a monitoring along the border with India in Panchthar district.

The monitoring team includes lawmaker Basanta Kumar Nembang, President of the District Coordination Committee Bishnu Prasad Sapkota, Chief District Officer Prakash Chandra Adhikari, Chair of Yanbarak Rural Municipality Lekhnath Ghimire and chiefs of all three security agencies.

The supervision aims to control criminal activities, human trafficking and the smuggling of counterfeit currencies, drugs, wild animals and weapons. The team also inspected border pillar no 47.

On the occasion, a meeting was held between the team and security agency of Sikkim State. During the meeting, it was agreed upon that a security post would be set up in Panchthar and the Rural Municipality Chair has been given the task of arranging two locations in that regard, said CDO Sapkota.

Likewise, Security Chief of the Sikkim State Laxman Gurung, who participated in the meeting, apprised the meeting of the progress in the construction of a road connecting Panchthar and Sikkim.

Lawmaker Nembang said initiatives would be taken in the nearest future to open more transit points with India.
