Sindhupalchowk bus accident death toll reaches 16 which took place at Chha kilo along the Lamosanghu-Jiri road section at Sunkoshi rural municipality-7 in Sindhupalchowk. Seven-year-old Aashika Tamang of Balefi rural municipality-3, Sindhupalchowk died last night in course of treatment at the Sinamangal-based Kathmandu Medical College who was injured in the accident.
With this, the death toll hit 16, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle. The girl’s mother is being treated at the HAMS Hospital while the father is undergoing treatment at the Norvic Hospital. Eighteen people who were hurt in the accident have been admitted to several hospitals.
Similarly, the six-month-old baby girl who survived the accident is under the protection of Khadichaur-based Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital as none has approached claiming her guardianship. Sunita Tamang the girls mother had died on the spot while father her Suman Tamang, the driver of ill-fated bus, has been on the large since the accident.
The reserved bus (Ba 4 Kha 4468) en route to Bhaktapur from Kalinchowk, Dolakha carrying pilgrims fell some 100 meters down the road, killing 12 on the spot and leaving over 20 hurt.
