Kathmandu, April 20
Six children have been rescued from Lagankhel Bus park today under a campaign ‘Child labour-free transport-2075 BS’ in order to free public transport of child labor.
The children were rescued after carrying out monitoring of public vehicles (bus, minibus, microbus, tempo) operating in Kathmandu Valley with the collaboration of Central Child Welfare Board, Labour Office, Bagmati, and different bodies working in the sector of child rights.
The campaign launched under the leadership of Labour Office, Bagmati, Uday Kumar Gupta, carried out monitoring of 155 public vehicles today and pasted stickers reading awareness message.
The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act-2056 has prohibited child labor at public vehicles. The rescued children have been sent to social organizations for their protection and management. The campaign was initiated from April 18.
